More than a skilled instructor,
he is a craftsman at his art
of taking knowledge
far beyond studied thought--
his gift of guidance to impart.
Two steps ahead and onward always;
our paths not to impede.
He is ever-seeking, by means Socratic,
to prompt, inspire and lead.
Yet, if even one should fall behind,
the cause fear not to say,
for in the task he welcomes challenge;
his student to meet half way.
And when, along the knowledge quest,
our determination is spent,
he has to share a laugh or two
in kindness and encouragement.
To declare his gift within a word
mundane boundaries to trascend
more than a valued mentor--
he is a kindred friend.
