Yesterday your smile lit up the room Your laughter filled the air Your lips gently brushed the baby's cheek You were young, with time to spare When you left the house as twilight neared Your voice was like a song Good-bye Mom, take good care of our angel I won't be gone for long You waved good-bye and went out the door So sure you would return You were so full of life and laughter Death was not your concern Your body now is an empty shell Your spirit is no more Your smile no longer lights up the room No laughter as before You won't be back before it grows late To rock your babe to sleep No more tomorrows to watch her grow The pain of death cuts deep Farewell to you my long lost dear friend I've came to say good-bye I pray some day they'll catch the man That wanted you to die.

Sherry, your poem drives right home the total devastation of the death of a young person. Those who are left behind to grieve will eventually find joys in memories of this beloved.
