Poem Artwork

You were here and saw how I lived. You stared into the depths of my hell and yet you stayed.

Locked away with me in the prison of my own sick mind.

You were innocent, young and so lovely. Delicate, ripe for the taking.

I courted you, danced with you, stole your heart.

What I wanted was your soul. You danced with me and played with me and offered me everything.

I wooed you with words of love, spun my web of deceit and caught you

I needed you, I had to have you, for me it was life or death. I wanted life.

Your life you gave to me so freely. Your innocence was placed in my hands.

I swore if I possessed you I'd be eternally happy and satisfied. You believed every lie.

Without you I was weak, dying, I was nothing.  You said you loved me, I knew I had to have you. We were a match made for hell.

You were everything I needed.  You were youth, happiness, vitality.  Your vibrant strength would bring me life.

We married, and survived together.  You trying to find happiness in a union made in hell. Me thriving off your vibrant energy, gaining strength for myself.

Each night you lay by my side, snuggled up in the warmth of my arms, pouring your love out to me.  You slept the sleep of death.

I held you in my arms as you slept, I sucked the energy and life from your soul so that I could live!  Each year I become stronger as I watched you withered and weak.

I wallowed in misery with stories of abuse and humiliation.  You knew nothing of these things. You were a happy free spirit.

Over the years I found my own true happiness!  As I sucked life's precious energy from your soul, I drug you down into the depths of my own misery.  I made you mine.  I taught you to hate, to constantly feel despair.

Oh I was good at my job.  The stronger I grew off your vitality, the more miserable I made you. As I saw you wallow in tears and feel the frustrations of hate, I felt a happiness in my soul. I know true happiness at last.  I have made you as miserable as I am myself.

Welcome to the world of the emotional vampire.
