It’s Not Tomorrow, Anymore
It’s not tomorrow, anymore.
What was tomorrow, yesterday,
Has now become Today!
Only on days that end in “y,”
Do we go to the trail to “run”.
And now, it’s fun that days like that,
Are all about us,
Since “tomorrow” doesn’t do so,
We can name it “Sunday” or “Monday,”
Or the next day,
And then it will,
And has,
Since the day of Robinson Crusoe.
After all, he had his good man “Friday,”
(Thanks to Gail, who made meaning,
Out of what appeared to make no sense).
What happens now is present tense,
And what is, is what used to be
A more futuristic tense.
If this becomes a “poem,”
In days of hence,
The author (from Port Arthur)
Will retire with Gail,
And on a nail,
Will hang his hat,
And what do you think of that?
