I took this photo yesterday, and I have named it 'Preservation'.
And because I want to preserve each of you in my memory, I felt the need to share it here with you.

Poem Artwork

So Long and Thank You, AD

One sip; That's where it all
started-
Like an addiction, it held me
within it's grasp-
Over three years later; I'm still
here-
Sitting in the dark searching for
these words;  Just a few more left to
go- And it will all be over-
I'll dot my i's; Cross my t's;
Punctuate properly the time I have left

I'll visit memories; Push back the
ones that made me cry-
I'll stroll down the avenue; Taking
a moment to remember each of
you; Just the way you are-
-Just the way you were-
Over three years ago; When I first
stumbled in off the busy sidewalks-
You offered me a chair; A smile; and
a place to rest-
Today I say, "Thank You"

I've counted my blessings all
one by one-
So many times through the years-
I've shared; stomped; I've gathered
my thoughts-
I've slept lazily; Celebrated; Yelled
and screamed-
I've been angry; Inspired; Sometimes
all within the same hour-
And I've wept a million tears

There are no words that I could write;
No poetry to fill this loss-
So I'll just dot my final i's; Sigh
and smile; Whisper a gentle "So Long"
Pull down the shades; Turn off the
light-
and the last of my t's, I'll quietly cross

Three and 1/2 years ago, I shared my first
poem here in AuthorsDen.  Today I can still
remember, not the poem, but the first three people
that reviewed it and welcomed me warmly to
AD.
The first was Alex. The second was Peggy Bertrand,
and the third was Eileen Waldron.
It's been a long and enjoyable journey.
My subscription doesn't end until Christmas Day,
but seeing how most are so busy, (including me)
I wanted to say my goodbyes today, just
to make sure and with hopes that each of you
will maybe have time to read this, before I'm
completely gone.
So, from the bottom of my heart, I say 'Thank You'
for allowing me a time and place in your
lives, and for all the smiles, the sharing, the inspiration that you so openly gave, the laughter, the
many moments of amazement. The sighs, that
escaped as I read your words; The heart-pounding
reviews that you left on mine; and yes, even
the anger, that rushed me to my wits end; and
more than any of them combined; the constant
flow of tears.
May God Bless, and So Long

Lisa

Lisa,
I don't know what to say. You were one of the first people here to support my writing, both through reviews and my newsletter and there are no words to express how sad it is that you are leaving. Best wishes to you in all you do in life and I pray that you will find yourself back here again, someday. Keep in touch, ya here!

Your fellow Texas poet,
Jill

Dear Lisa, we hope to hear from you in between and we are sure that there will be a way, because life often is just like that, that you can be back here in no time at all! Until then, stay well and keep in touch! We all will miss you and your writing, terribly!
Love and all the best wishes for you, Birgit and Roger

Lisa, I cannot tell you how much your writing has meant to me. We've never met, but I have always felt that you were a spiritual sister of sorts and I have admired so much your writing about tough issues. I am genuinely sad that you have to go, but I understand and I trust you will be well. I'm going to offer up a prayer of safekeeping and grace, a sending off. Merry Christmas and be well wherever you may go, Dawn

Life is what gets in the way of what we call life. So sometimes I can hardly be here at AD, or go long stretches without writing.
But it is great comfort knowing AD is here.
It is a greater comfort when you are.

However strange it may sound for me to say this, my heart is aching as I sit here in tears, sad and stunned. I have watched you grow so much as a writer since I first started reading you. Not only are you one of my very favorite authors, you are one of the most talented here at the Den. You have an honest voice and you have never been shy about using it. In many ways, I have felt that I had a comrade in arms with you here and in other ways; I kind of feel a kinship with you as a woman, a patriot and an enlightened human being. I will truly miss you, Lisa. Please continue to write, your soul just seems to blossom when you do and the world needs to hear your voice. Be well and have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
Love,
Sherry

Hi, Lisa. You were one of the first poets that I read when I got here who I knew to have genuine talent. Please keep writing and I hope you will keep in touch. You have courage, integrity and a true gift, not to mention fire. :-) I hope you'll drop a line from time to time. ~~Nordette

My Dear Lisa,

People come and people go... and then there are those whose words grace the page and leave an indelible mark on our hearts. You have been one such angel. Your uplifting, encouraging work for the plight of our soldiers, in particular, have moved me and blessed me.

It takes a special talent to be able to express moods and emotion through poetry; for me, this is a sign of exceptional work. You have always inspired me, and for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope to be able to read you again.

I'll not forget you. Wherever you go, wherever you are, you'll remain in my heart. Go with blessings.

Love,
Tami

I and the rest of the AD family are going to miss you, thank you for your words and have a very Merry Christmas. Keep writing and many blessings for the future.

Your words are needed here at the Den; you write with such power and emotion, you've touched many hearts here. Wish I had the money to subscribe you...I pray an angel comes through and provides a Christmas miracle. Beautiful, heartfelt poem--thank you for your support and encouragement, and mostly, for your words and friendship.

(((((HUGS))))) and love, Karla.

Hey you cannot go...what will be left of the other side of me brain??

This is sad...and yes been there all along side you...knowing this place well!!

You will be missed for sure Lisa...you and I had fun at first with the brain thingy...that was fun...and I still feel the loss of many DEAR friends along the way. It made us all sad and so many things was said and misplaced at times that made friends drift apart.

Remember that I for one will never forget those golden moments way back then!!

Take care dear friend and GOD BLESS you and YOURS!!

You will be missed! I wish there was something we could say to get you to stay but if you must go then go with our blessings. I'm working on a poem currently and I think I need to share the very first stanza with you so that I make sure you see it.

I cannot write as soulful and deep
As Southern Horizons but I do keep
Her in my heart and mind
Every day and all the time.

It's a poem thanking all of you for helping to make me a better writer and person.

Go with our love and blessings and I will miss your wonderful writings.

Oh please say it isn't true, or at least that you will reconsider dear Lisa. You were one of the first people I met on here and I have come to look forward to each and everyone of your writes not to mention the encouragement and knowledge you have passed on in your work. I know you are bound for better things in your writting and the calibre of your work is beyond exception some of the best the den has ever seen so I hope with all my heart you will reconsider. If not I wish you all the best in whatever endeavors you take on and I know you will keep in touch. Big warm hug from me to you,

Lisa,
You may be gone, but your wonderful pen shall not be forgotten. I found lots of meaning and depth within your lines. Poetry like feelings come from within the heart, and your heart poured an abundance of words so full of life's meanings. You take care and travel lightly upon your next roasd of travel. I've often said that to be called a poet isn't a crown that one can place upon ones self, but a royalty that only those who enjoys ones lines can bestow upon them. So with those words in mind consider yourself one of the queens of the written word. I bow to your throne.

Take Care Always
