Going through the process of buying a new home, I feel as though my life's worth is being judged solely by my financial assets. "Once I thought it was all about my a** but I have learned that it is actually all about my assets."

Dollars and Sense

How did we become

Just a sum on a page

Judged by finances

Instead of acts and our age

Our worth decided

By cash in the bank

Yet for faith and honor

We draw a big blank

The world is a banker

Driven by “dough”

Human kindness un-rated

Charity a no-show

It’s become how we dress

And the cars that we drive

Not about our integrity

Or how we live out our lives

When did we stray

From the Commandments Ten

To a time where we’re rated

By our dollars and yen?

And we wonder why children

Have all gone astray

Responsibility shirked

For what they do or they say

How will we all fare

How can we possibly win

When our money won’t pay

For our lifetimes of sin

Yep, that's how life is, sometimes the amount of greenbacks are what counts the most.

In days of yore, self worth was determined by how many hearths you had in your home. Today's standards are judged by the amount of money you have. Good sensible write.

it seems as though the soul of this world is indeed a dollar sign ... but we know it can't buy happiness and hope nor raise the caliber of our character nor teach us how to survive the clutches of death ... our true value cannot be banked ...

Sense: some people see dollars and lose it all. Venture capitalists just bought Chrysler for a song. Once they strip and part it out, what will happen to the venerable old marque--follow Pachard and Studebaker?

Sherry,
This truly tells things the way they really are these days. It certainly doesn't matter what we promise or what we believe, it's all about how much the banker says we can have and for what we can do with it. Scary isn't it?
Not too long ago my Son went to buy a new car and found that if he didn't have a huge amount to put down on it, he couldn't get it financed. Those folks had the audacity to call us and want to know if we could help him. As bad as I hated to, I had to turn them down. I felt as though they were trying to force us into doing something we couldnt' afford. In the end, he finally decided to just keep the one he had, but I still feel bad for him.
I wish you the best in getting your house...everyone deserves to own their own home.

Sad how we have come to lean on the almighty dollar instead of THE Almighty. The rich are getting richer, the poor...well, you know. (I'm the latter; no income coming in. Tryin' to get on disability, can't work again. If it weren't for my twin, I'd a been out on the street long ago. Scary!) Very well done, Sherry; brava!

All the best to you as you buy your new home; you are in my prayers!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

How sadly true in these extremely sad modern times. I think we've strayed far from the right path, and I sadly wonder if we'll ever find the right one again.

Sherry,

I'll tell ya: man's greed changed the priorities. Faith and honor, work ethic and dedication mean NOTHING anymore. Sad commentary on our times...excellently penned thought provoker.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
