Worldly, he chose an impressive Brick House.

Because dwellings change over time, his eyes

grew distant on moon-lit nights.

Stressed, he found a greener meadow as his eyes

strayed to a stately, yet portly, Manor.

Without hesitating, he picked up his tools and moved in

to change her opulent exterior.

Spent, from his renovation efforts, she left

dragging her splintered imperfections.

Wounded, he chose a frail, Stone Villa.

But like him, she needed constant care.

When he grew weary of her brokenness,

he ventured toward the street's Cold Beams.

Unfulfilled, he wandered Country Roads,

finding Shelter during a swirling rain-storm.

Exhausted, he yielded to her straw-bed.

She covered him warmly, nurturing his dream.

Peacefully, the frail Builder slept.

But rising at dawn to wind-tossed Straw,

he picked up his tools and went out

among Thorns

to build again.

Some should be satisfied with what they create in the first place. Thorns could have been a wake up call...M
