He slobbered all over
Thinking the tenuous bond
Was strong enough to hold
The weight of two.
Mawkish and morose,
As was usual,
He made a perfect fool!
The bond broke
Barely leaving him alive!
But it made her gloat
Over the fall of a friend,
Full of love and
Sentimental nonsense.
Realized that
No one belonged to any one, ever!
Bonds we often talk so much of
--relationships to fools--
Are the best time servers.
Born to die alone,
We imagine things
Which are not and
Which are rarely are
And in due time ends
The dourly struggle.
Dead, food for
Insects or fire
Soon to be forgotten
And cared for no more,
As when alive.
The world needs you not!
