'Rode the wicked rail . . . '

Poem Artwork

Bolts of lightning came down

Rode the wicked rail - approached

quickly, was black in hue

Wore a sullen expression as

it horizontally progressed.

Distinctly visible electrical

discharges raced across the

sky - accompanied by flashes

of light, would bring misfortune

to anyone caught outside.

As the storm grew in intensity

the temperature suddenly

dropped - then came hail the

size of baseballs; didn't feel

bad if you couldn't take cover.

The heat from the lightning caused

the air to expand - created large

sound waves; there now existed

a paradigm (and I don't mean 20

cents) - had a distinctive pattern.

But, as quickly as it came, it

left its station - like the ghost

of an old steam engine - but in

its wake left much destruction

Just like a train derailment.

Fascinating...I daresay electrifying writing, Robert...yes, destruction may follow, but often cleansing is the enormous benefit of such a storm. Well, I love thunderstorms.
