No More Purple Butterflies… Once we ran in fields of green, Golden wheat and brown sage, Stained our knees, And the wild smell of life, Tangled in our hair… We were young then, Weren’t we! So fresh and innocent, I remember so well, How much you loved purple butterflies, And the stories that I would tell! We lay in fresh green grass, And you fed them the honey from the dew, I remember those days so clearly, I remember you… I heard you crying yesterday, And went looking for the sound, That damn meadow was barren, It was burned clear to the ground… You sat holding something in your hand, Looking up I wept to see your tears, A fragile soul so beautiful lay still and cold, In your open palm… “No more purple butterflies…” you whispered, I looked around at the scorched earth, Once green and so alive, All I could do was whisper; “I know just what you mean…”

A magnificent review of nature's changes. Are they gone forever, or will mankind snap out of it, and allow their return? Thank you for writing this one so wonderfully. Its words are as delicate and precious as butterflies themselves.
