Poem Artwork

I Breathe You Out...

I draw a breath,
and breathe you out,
hot autumn breath,
in a long forgotten winter,
your love fogs my windows,
and I can't see out...

The world a of blur of falling snowflakes,
floating slowly to the ground,
piling up in great mounds,
blocking the door,
I can't get out...

Mim draws me away,
and says softly,
come back to bed,
sleep, sleep...
and when you awake,
everything will be okay...

Darkness at my window,
moon peering in,
wondering why I lie abed,
on such a night as this...

I dream I am flying,
though the cold night air,
falling so softly in the sky,
yet I never touch the earth...

I take a breath of cool night air,
and breathe you out,
my skin frost covered,
yet I feel so warm-

Snowflakes landing on my tongue,
and I am a child again,
tasting the frozen sky,
I draw a breath,
and breathe you out...

And I am free.

Your images are devine, Reindeer, and this poem, perhaps, one of your very best. There is such a sense of liberation and personal strength woven through your verses that it brought a smile to my face this morning. This is a keeper, for certain.
Take care,
Sherry

I just read this through twice and savored every second of it. You have a way of connecting the natural world with vision-like experiences packed with symbolism and meaning. Nobody does it like you, Reindeer, and this is right up at the top of my list of favorites from you. Thank you! Dawn
