Not Your Usual Bio

Who am I, you ask,
Wondering at my identity,
Wondering why you can't see me
Though you look in the shadows...

I am Reindeer.

And I hail from a place far away.
From the mountains to the North,
Where eagles still fly in the sky
And the wolves roam the earth...
Where the mountain peaks are capped in snow
And shrouded in white fog-
But,
You won't find me there,
It's too white,
Too bright,
Too much damn light
For one such as me-
Give me the night,
The gloom of dusk,
That's where I am,
Deep in the heart of the forest,
Hidden by the trees,
And their long, lovely leaves.
Kept warm by the fur of animals
That lie unafraid next to me-
Use their warmth to save me from the cold-
But,
You won't find me here,
Though I can't make myself invisable
Like my dark haired sister.
Her hair like black coal.
Her skin so white, It hurt my eyes...
Don't have her talent,
Though she tried to teach me.
Nor can I fly away like my brother,
Who flew among the eagles,
Always reaching for the sky's limit,
Until he flew into oblivion...
No, not like them.

I am Reindeer.

My feet firmly planted in the earth.
Hidden by the forest around me-
Leaving footprints in the soft earth that lead no where.
Playing games with the steely eyed hunter.
Fouling his traps.
Laying waste to his campsites...
For him, I leave the scent of grief, tears, and blood,
To mark the unforgiving trail.
But even he can't follow me...

I am Reindeer.

And I'm not ready for you to see me.
Not ready to let you touch me-
Not ready to hear your voice echoing in my forest-
Bouncing off my trees-
Scaring my friends...
My forest is green and full of life,
Can't have you come along bringing your scent of Death In every step you take,
Tramping on the life that surrounds me,
Protects me.
Can't have you trying to find the heart of the forest
And put it on top of your spear,
Like some damn souvenir!
Who am I?

I Am Reindeer-

Forever Guardian in the Heart of the Forest
Where I dwell under the August Moon,
And that,
Is where you will find me,
If you dare to come looking...
