The beauty of my forest
surrounds me,
with giant trees
that reach into the skies,
touching the face of God
with their long limbs,
touching my soul
with their beauty and truth...
Shall I tell you about the Oaks?
Strong and true ?
Their long limbs
covered in whispering leaves
that sway and tremble
in the early morning breeze?
Feeding my soul,
with its need to know
that life shall continue here
long after I am but ashes
buried beneath their feet...
As a child I ran along their limbs,
so broad and wide,
and never feared the fall,
or the telling of lies,
for oaks are true you see,
never betray you...
And you can tell them anything,
they understand it all,
they have a secret
these oaks,
and if you love them enough,
one day,
they may reveal it to you...
i like this poem retta; the oaks are impressive. have you red Louis Simpson's 'The Redwoods' - they stand at the Pacific like great unmarried girls, considering whom to please...

Beautiful photo of the tree and great poem! Wonderful nature write.
Strenght can be found in so many ways and you portrayed the strength of the oaks so beautifully. Plus, that picture is fantastic. If that is one you took I can see where you got your inspiration from. To be able to stand amongst the majesty of tress like that, whew...
Excellent. I love this. The poem goes into my library. The oak in the picture is quite similar to a huge chestnut oak near me. Great write, Retta.
