A Time to Live
Where once there stood the power of words
With strength and poise and songs of birds
With bits of grace and muscled frame
And laughter sweet and clear.
Alas time has pushed all that aside
And raised its fare on our final ride
A course now strewn with hopes and dreams
And withered frothy words.
O death where is thy sting? the poet wrote
Whose heart yearned beyond her note
No shiny cities on Nature’s knolls
Her time was nearly here.
A life once lived with circumspect
Is gone in a blink not disrespect
To find one’s place among the stars
Where titles abide no more.
To live to love with grace and deep
To find that life’s not ours to keep
No more laughter no more games.
And promises unkept.
Is our ride over or just begun?
To renew our hopes extend our fun?
Better to ask if we paid our dues
To share with others and not to lose...
We came into this world alone
We leave in much the same
‘Tis better to have lost our gains
Than to leave a world in shame.

We all need to leave the world in a better place than it was when we came into it. If we don't, we probably won't be around to see the result of our actions.
We are already at a tipping point where all the kings horses and all the kings men could not put the world back together again. If we don't heed climate change as real and scientifically proven or, even more stupid, believe that we can engage in wider war leading to nuclear "tactical" strikes and not do program damage to the ecosystem that will kill us all. Consumerism using plastics for convenience and price is doing that very insidiously in a small, but deadly, way. As well as our insistence on pesticides and herbicides, overuse of antibiotics and drugs of both benefit and pleasure to our eventual demise.
If you want to do something right before you go, change… Change quickly to what is right in everything you do. Your grandchildren and great-grandchildren will thank you over and over for doing the right thing during your life to save theirs.
