Stretched out upon my bed, my wearily subdued and slumbering body lay,
And on the smooth linen of my pillow, my head rests after another long day.
Quietly I escape, for no more am I tethered, no longer am I earthly bound
As my dreaming mind ascends skyward, high above the earth’s hard ground.
Ascending into the blue of the heavens, without feathered wings I silently soar,
Looking upward, and not glancing back at the earth's cold and callous floor,
For my mind is heavenly bent on the pursuit of hope, love and pleasant dreams,
A momentary, but tranquil, reprieve from earthly hate and hostile schemes.
