Dare to dream the dreams; breaking free of the human mold,

Escaping from the rigid rules of risk that we’ve been taught or told.

“Don’t waste your time on dreams,” is what one generally hears

From those who are locked safely away, those afraid to shift their gears.

“Why do some people have to dream?” a friend once asked of me.”

I replied, “Without dreamers, our lives would be plain or hideously ugly.

Dreamers paint and write music, lyrics, poetry and books; they feel it’s their duty,

Whatever their talent might be; they all convert their dared dreams into unique beauty.”

There’s more to living than waking each day to punch a time clock,

Or having your life revolve in and around one square city block.

There are the gifts God gave and the dreams to make them come true ,

But coming true is totally up to one person, and that one person is you.

O’, dare to dream the dreams; adorn what is an ordinary day,

Make your dreams come true in your distinctively personal way.

I love this! Not only am I a big dreamer, I have devoted much of my life to helping others realize their dreams. Living vicariously is often as good ;-) Thanks for this uplifting poem.

So true. But must live the dream. Or die without try...

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
