ENTREAT ME NOT
© 2009, Wanda L. Harrell
As that glorious tangerine sphere of warmth and light
Descends over the distant horizon, away from human sight,
I beseech thee; entreat me not into this night’s selfish dreams;
A dreamt vision is lacking life and not all what it oft seems.
When frail and wispy shadows dance beneath the night sky,
My distant and solitary spirit emits a silent scream and cry.
Your dreams are now substitutes for living and loving touch,
And I want not to be included in your dream’s selfish clutch.
Release my illusory image from the prison of your dreams;
Make not my image a piece of those selfish nightly schemes.
Living and loving are greater than mere images woven in your head,
So my being refuses to be a selfish dream’s intangible thread.
