Alone Children gone Grown up now They still blame her For the divorce So they have their excuses For not calling or visiting She’s been weeping Too much Says the doctor Gave her pills Bright yellow They smile at her From the bottle Like a host of beckoning genies She dare not let out She does not take them She likes to walk in woods Now with autumn’s arms around her She likes the music of the forest Squirrels Jays Chickadees An occasional raven And overhead beyond the canape of gold The call of wild geese flying south Across sapphire skies They will come back come spring But will the fruit of her womb? Holy Mary Mother of God Pray for me I’m not so unlike you She likes rustling Through freshly fallen harvests Of golden crimson leaves Now She stops She hears the winsome whisper Of the wandering autumn wind And For the first time She whispers back
I wonder if this is a personal poem Regis... Seems like it to me.
Thank you for sharing. You have beautiful imagery as always. And the emotion is present as well. You tell a story here, one that speaks to us, that makes us feel. Kudos!!!
HOW TRUE THIS IS, REGIS. GOD ALWAYS FINDS A WAY TO FILL OUR EMPTINESS...FOR WITH THE WONDER AND BEAUTY OF HIS NATURE HE WISHPERS...'YOU ARE NOT ALONE...I LOVE YOU'. THIS WORK REMINDS ME OF ONE I WAS INSPIRED TO WRITE IN 2008...'HIS WIND BLOWS'. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

P.S. I am blessed by your poetry and your encouragement! Thanks!
Regis,
Thank you for sharing this personal piece. This poem ends with that single sense of hope we get at the conclusion of a situation. It's both an ending and a beginning. Hugs,
Sheila
Great poem. You are not along at all with all these great reviews on your work and so many friends you have made over the past. And still making in this future. love the picture, she is so beautiful and the words are so flowing in this write, I absolutely adored this Alone/ it is not like being alone like I know aloneness. Thanks for the uplifting of this one.
I like this poem! Sentences: "Now with autumn's arms around her, she likes the music of the forest'... 'Pills bright yellow they smile at her from the bottle,' they are talented, beautiful. Liana Margiva.
You really have mastered the true poets task of boiling all this emtional description down to the essential beauty of these short phrases. To me they sort of flow as though they were branches on a tree and you're looking up through them. Each line revealing more and more in simple, lovely images until that last revealing branch. But then she was walking in the woods wasn't she? {and I'm not even out of the "A" poems!)
I feel guilty for taking so long to look at your poetry. I'm very glad I have done so at last. This was wonderful. It may be sad but I get such a sense of peace reading it.
You really do have a great talent.
Jessica:-)
this poem touched my soul and I connected to the woman who is blamed and deserted by her children. It is a bitter pill to swallow whether you take the pills or walk in the woods. I too reached out to my faith. You described my painful walk very thoroughly. excellent
Tears! Heart-felt pain; a memory! You've expressed the facet of a Mother who gave all for her children and try to understand why they don't care! Touching!
((((Hugs))))

What a story in this! Dear Regis, I pray that if I become like her, I will choose to walk in the woods and not take the pills........
so beautiful of a write and so well said. Take care. Love from Meredith
Who is this woman?! Is she someone you knew or did you conjure her up in your head while walking in the woods?!

The human spirit has such complexities. Unfortunatly, we are our own guides, controling pathes we venture down, we often turn away from our truest intentions, throwing stubborn accusations at those we love.
You captured this in so few words.well done.
I liked this. There is a softness and gentleness in your words and obviously a lot of love in your soul.

Yep, nature didn't do this.
People do so much damage by not forgiving each others faults.
Love is within, yes, don't need to reach for it since its already there in your heart.

Agree with many of the others that nature heals. Is is hard to loose the touch of loved ones - it hurts to loose and eventually all of us will loose everything apart from our love. Franz

I've read Same? and Resurrection and this poem and I can see that the poetic spirits have consumed you and granted you the inner vision that paints unique pictures in our minds. You have a true gift and I thank you for sharing!
Quite a piece here Reg, I can relate, especially the part about nature. I would rather be out in a boat fishing alone rather than to be in the company of a bunch of pain in the butts. None of my family hardly comes around, when they do they're a pain. Love from a distance is fine with me. I'm a loner anyway and glad. Never had more peace in my life. take care my friend. G
Regis,Thanks for your recent review. I have not seen you post until now and so I have been worried about you & even more worried since I see this poem.
It is deeply sad yet I feel a fighting spirit in there, somewhere. I want you to know, if I can hang in there, and fight the skull things, the lesion on my skull, then you can fight this too! You are my friend and I care.
Reg...This is an absolute beauty...
Stunningly emotional and tender...crafted with skill and precision..
Hauntingly sad and poignant...
Best Wishes

Regis my friend, this is your best work yet. My daughter just left the nest last weekend, moved to West Palm Beach (where the hurricane is this evening), and I can feel the pain coming from the subject of your poem...acutely. Blessings and hugs,
Michelle
I agree with Ed.
You won't find your peace when swallowing these pills. You have to find other ways, make peace with yourself and move on. Nature is the best medicine.
Excellent write.

Regis...this is an awesome writing!
It shows depth, and devotion, as well as profound pain in a

I know this kind of pain, my poet peer, and you have described

Nature is sometimes better than any anti-depressant chemical that man does make...I feel the sadness & pain within in this poem and could feel tears well up inside, fortunately it ended before they flowed forth...what a beautiful rendering friend Regis...Find peace, Ed & Rufuz
Oooo! Delightful imagery braised in a sense of guilt and pathos that twist into a quilt of triumph! Wonderful weaving, Regis! The whispering back intensifies the taste of freedom.
