I will read this one to my great grandson, I'm sure he'll get something out of it, he loves to learn. I can relate in that I always wondered if my best friend would be in my same claases, etc. My 2nd oldest grandson, always counts the days from the time he gets out of school to tell me how many days til school starts. I think the kids get bored and really do look forward to another school year.

This one hits me like a ton of bricks. I have to go back to school August 13th. No more all day to spend writing ,so i can post on AD. I am already blue thinking about it.

so cute, I am taking online classes, my friend's kinda get upset with me, for I so no, on going out with me, gotta go home, I say, get my homework done, there's time later to go to social places, I've spent my life enough in them, there's nothing there, no degree, only time wasted, so when I am out fighting crime, you'll still be here, wondering why you didn't do the same, going back to school, it's challenging at my age, should have done it years ago, but the important thing is, now i am doing it, and feel good about it, there's no place like going home and going to school, even though it's on line classes, it's not easy, but it's going to worth it, in the end.
Great ditty to read just now--getting all settled in, and it all seems so hum-drum. I shake my head, square my shoulders and take a fresh attitude with me out the door.--Charlie

Yeah you ppl have all summer for holidays, as is in the US too, but we have our kids Holidays all split up right through the year, and they spend the worst season of all,FEB starting back!! In the heat of 42c, dosent seem logical to me.

Strange knowing there are SOME countries out there that let kids and grand/parents and friends enjoy some time together. Here in the states, they think August is the prime time to re-attend classes. Perhaps that's why so much ADHD here? When my business moves into Canada in January 2008 I am DEFINITELY going to look forward to meeting you kind sir. Fantastic! Makes you want to run out and buy notebook paper and Ticonderogs #2's. For the longest time, depression hit me around Labor Day. Something is wrong, I would think. Oh. 'Everybody' is going back to school. Going to miss the whole thing ! I didn't always enjoy school, but it was such a big part of our lives, wasn't it.
All that said, you are so right about nature. There are people who want us to think that all education takes place at school. How wrong can they get? Personally, I wish the three-month summer vacation would be reinstated. Be better for teachers, as well as students-?

I remember when school began after labor day, Reg, and families were able to share that last hoilday weekend in anticipation exactly as you describe it. I also remember the excitement of new school supplies and seeing friends again and hoping I would be in the same room with my best ones. You've taken me back to so many little girl memories with this one Regis...think I;ll stay there for just a while and remember.

Regis, this is excellent! It should be printed in every newspaper in Canada and the U.S. It is a wonderful piece of encouragement fo students to have no fear and to remain on the "right track." (I'm just glad I don't have to go back. I'd rather go to work!)

The last verse sums up the beginning of the school year, regardless of when or where school starts..... "There's no need to fret; you're on the right track." I'm back at school taking on-line classes. It isn't as easy as you would think. But in 4 more months, I'll have my Associates Degree in Information Technology. School isn't just for the young as this Nana can prove.

This is my son's first year in school.
The first week was tough but now he
loves school more than staying home with me.

Sometimes school seems to all of us a necessary evil, like insurance, but what would we do without it? Not everyone has the discipline to study by computer or 'home-schooling', right? Fun read.
Loved this my friend, only wish that our summer would've lasted until this weekend! We returned to school on August the first! But all is well, we've got one month behind us and a four day weekend this week! Your poem is perfect, describes the anxiety of a child as well as teachers the night before the first day of school! Enjoyed this, Reg. Isn't life funny. When I was going to school I couldn't wait for summer vacation, then near its end I was hopping around like crazy wanting to see my old classmates . . . It didn't take but about two weeks for me to start wishing for summer vacation again, however . . .
