Time is a gift...

Poem Artwork

Tomorrow…

There’s always the hope
Of tomorrow...

...Right now it seems
There is nothing certain anymore
My soul is beyond sore
How trite, banal, passé, and stale
Are such sentiments, a bore?
Yes I know
But one cannot change the truth
Of what one lives and feels
What has happened was never my intent
I do not do well with broken promises
I guess I am naïve
I suppose they were right about me
Never growing up
It’s just that I really believed and trusted

Tomorrow
If another day is granted
Another gift
I hope I will feel like opening it

Regis, this poem hits me at home. Most of what you have said here, is what I have been going through, off and on, since 1961. But I do agree that there is always the promise of tomorrow and I don't do good with broken promises, either. Thank you for sharing.

Love & hugs,

I like the sense of hope in this piece. What resonated with me the most is the voice of a true romantic. Enjoyed.

I have shared this poem on your FB author page. I was sure I had read it before and commented. But seems I have not.

Anyway...

This is a piece that readers can relate to I am sure. We all have been there at one point or another. Another honest moving piece that has much to think about and draw from. Thank you for sharing yourself and your gift with us.

A bit maudlin, Regis. But, as always with you, an honest expression. By all means, keep opening your gifts. A precious new gem awaits you!

All the best.

Never grow up Regis, it is then you grow old! I find my life is more rewarding with youthful vigor when I am able to make decisions not based on another persons input. This being said, lonliness is all consuming sometimes too, it is then I join hands so to speak, with a friend that understands so I don't feel so alone. Take heart my friend, if I can do it, you can too!
My dad always said, there are more fish in the sea...maybe the next one is a rainbow trout!

Tomorrow's mercies are new...believe in you!

How long has it been since your "break up"? Give it time. Pull your confidence out of that box you've been storing it in and don it. You have a different opionion now and that's the way it goes. Go get 'er, tiger!!

You've expressed here, what many others think...offering much to think about. I do agree with Paul in that because of what happens today, I have 'hope' for a better tomorrow. In many ways what you've penned could be hard for someone to write about but you have bravely stepped forward...sharing your thoughts.

I have been living in a state of boytox for a few years. This means that I have dismissed having men in my life, for a while, as I recover from a few failed relationships. I don't want to drag all that toxic energy into another relationship and risk ruining what may be the right relationship for me. We all want to feel loved, but I now concentrate on my friendships and let those elevate me through the difficult times. Perhaps, for you, too, it would help to take a break and get back to a clear understanding of who you are when you are not flexing your self for another person. If I am not certain of who I am when I am all by myself, I will never be able to remain true to myself in a relationship where I am interested in pleasing my partner. My best to you, Reg. Each lesson in life is but a stepping stone to our true destiny.
Take care,
Sherry

Regis, it would be easier to go through life with a hardened shell which cocoons us, shelters, and keeps all hurt and treachery from touching us, but there are many people as yourself who, "really believed and trusted." It takes a long time to survive such a misplaced trust, my friend, sadly sometimes we never quite get over it.
