Never Forget

I shall never forget the past

All of those things that did not last

My childhood that was gone too soon

Like lilac petals come the month of June

My many loves I thought were true

But before I knew them they were through

The many hurts that some caused me

Because of their petty jealousy

The bullying endured at school

Because being French just was not cool

The unfair treatment from a nun

I do forgive her but I’m not done

The loved ones who are no longer here

I remember more than one so dear

The struggles to see that justice wins

Instead victory went to their sins

But all of that being expressed

There is so much else that must be stressed

I am grateful for much in life

I am so thankful in spite of strife

I acknowledge the kindness received

By dark thoughts I shall not be deceived

Thank you to all who care about me

And you must know whom that would be

In return I send to you my love
