Yet as we kick, rape, punch and pillage her, knowingly.
Greed blinds the destruction.

Strong words and imagery.

It is probably true that Nature can and will survive anything
that we can do to this magnificent planet. But she is unlikely
to ever restore it to gem she entrusted to our care. And as she decays, we will decay also. But unlike us, she will live on.

So glad you have joined us that are writing about our nest's plight. Our writing must become an avalanche that gathers speed and effort, until we change the minds of those who stubbornly hold onto their greed and excess at the peril of all of us and our heritage, our children.

In 1971, I had the pleasure of touring British Columbia on my way north and east returning home to Wisconsin. After visiting Prince George and then taking a new road to Jasper, seeing wildlife and wonders like herds of elk and mountain goats high on the Canadian Rockies, I came upon the Athabasca glacier that had receded a half-mile from the scenic hotel built at its base in 1901. The cause of the receding glacier was global warming from CO2 rise.

I often wonder why it's taken us so long to realize what we are doing?

If this old earth burns up so to speak, in maybe another 100 years, we can live with the fact that we won't be here to experience it...-e-

We, and many species may not survive because of what we do or don't do, but the earth will live on without us. It's survived far worse.

In few words you have described beautifully how man in destroying nature. The writing is on the wall but we choose to ignore. Very thought provoking poem.
