Christmas 2020

I’m not looking forward to December;

This year has gone by too quickly into the past,

Leaving unsettling memories at best.

Autumn is giving way to winter;

Perhaps the new season will bring snow.

After all, it is a La Niña year,

And that Child usually brings colder climes.

There is talk of a virtual Christmas;

How about no Christmas at all?

Keeping things quiet and peaceful,

Trying hard to forget the past.

Out with the old,

In with the new.

Good-bye, COVID-19;

Hello, 2021…

… And happier days ahead,

Let us hope.
