Poem Artwork

Les Misérables

 Les misérables

The unfortunate

How Victor Hugo portrayed them well

Poverty

Misery

Cruelty

Abandonment

Reminiscent of “man’s inhumanity to man”

Les misérables

The unfortunate

They have always been with us

Some of us are them

Humanity seems not to learn

As peace

Justice

Equality elude us

Heaven and Earth

And mothers weep

I don't believe that anything Man does can be attributed to his "inhumanity". Like it or not, poverty, misery, cruelty & abandonment bear testimony to Man's HUMANITY just as wealth, happiness, kindness and compassion do. The choices are yours.
Well, that's simply my humble opinion. No offense intended, Regis.

All the best!

We are lost in a sea of inhumanity dear poet. The margin between Le Miserables and the rich is getter larger every day. No wonder heaven and earth weeps, I have seen the play, and it gets to me every time, how easy it is to turn a blind eye sometimes. Thankyou for your evocative poem Regis, Have a great weekend. Stay healthy and happy, appreciate all the things that life offers you. They are priceless and deserve to be acknowledged everyday. :)

Once again you have crafted a master piece, saying so much in so few words!
This piece is so apt in the current situations we are facing as a humanity.
Keep inspiring!

I like the way you wrote, "Some of them are us." How true…

Having had the privilege to see Les Miserables three times in London
and watch first hand the things you speak of play out in this brilliant
production...it seems unfortunately, that nothing much has changed with the passing
years...
sadly...mans inhumanity to man continues...
and Mother’s still weep....

Diana...
