How have I become
the toil of bitterness
and lost emotion
that beats in her heart?
The point of conflict
not even recognized.
A hidden defeat has ascended
in all the space that lies between us.
Once bleeding sunlight
onto a shimmering canvas
that walked before her.
Her eyes have become black stones.
Slipping slowly into the Red sea
far away from me,
circles in her eyes are dark as coal,
feeling only the cold
yielding to a withering spirit.
As if my tally of possessions
included her,
locked away
refusing to fall to what she needed.
I tried to capture
the freedom
that she ignited
inside of me.
A glimmering reflection of hope lingers
in the voice of crashing waves,
in the shadows of the mountain
that end with all her sacrifices.
I see it everywhere
moving on,
while I stand still
weakened by her troubled spirit.
Her bonds
refuse to succumb
to the passion
lingering inside of freedom.
She walks the surf
looking for something new.
An offering from a white capped sea
that may release her.
I feel a shattering all around me.
In the distance of a whisper,
my heart
weakens at her sight.
I long to cry on her bosom.
My lips tremble
to feel the smooth skin,
beneath her hair
on the lay of her neck.
Let me walk at her side
and be where she is.
Unlock the trail of anguish
I have left behind.
Allow forgiveness
to lay waste to my shame.
I feel a man dying inside
longing to be reborn in her heart.
Allow me to live this dream,
freeing the sorrow
that hides beneath the black stones,
surrendering to lost echoes of laughter
that once lived strong in her soul.
The perfume of island lilies and sacred vows,
are kept in the wake
of all these dreams that lay at my feet,
intoxicating the sum of my life.
Timothy you have me weeping again I fear, too painful to read, even more painful to write, like some of mine.

your longing is so palpable in this piece...it is raw and abrupt bordering on painful...the kind of stuff that leaves one sleepless. Liked the way you moved in this one. Very sensual, very deep. **Mari**

"Allow Me to Surrender?" is a great title, but begins with a verb and I'm not so fond of verbs. Then again, that's just my opinion.
