Pulled in by pride
I left myself unguarded
spinning around 360 degrees
leaving me empty
longing for you
but you were no where in sight.
What can be reminded
in a wake of unrighteous anger,
dispelling itself around me
taunting my emotions
in an effort
to pacify each ticking sound.
Dim lights,
I wait for the confrontation
the opportunity
to unleash vengeance
with fury
into the eyes of the wrongdoer.
Sweet declarations
my commitment to see you turn the other cheek,
walk away
to see you know the difference
between right and wrong
always siding with the right.
I walk along
in uncharted land
only
to be more like you.
How can I honor this love
in my life?
How will I kill this shadow
that stands around me?
Where is the righteous sword
in my hour of need?
Slowly
she made her way
across the concrete walkway
to stop
right in front of me.
Her eyes
swollen.
I felt the stinging
mournful emotions
unravel her.
She spoke about her loss
how empty
her life would be.
She wept in bereavement
clinching car keys
between the pleas of comfort.
At once I snatched her
pulling her close to my heart,
weeping with her
her long hair
whisked along my shirt.
I felt you awaken inside of me.
Putting her in the car
I brushed hair
out of her eyes.
I watched the taillights
disappear down the ramp
in the parking garage.
I stood by my car
with the big scratch.
The big scratch
the same color, as her car
Smiling I pulled off
looking forward
to the woman
that stands in my kitchen.
Walking through my halls
choosing to believe in me.
