I don't understand religion,
Of any race or creed,
How they preach love and forgiveness,
Then kill those that won't believe.

I'm not just talking about Islam,
Because we've done the same ourselves,
If we believe the history books,
We keep upon our shelves.

So having doubts about religion,
I must try the best I can,
To find another explanation,
For the rise of modern man.

So let's imagine there's no heaven,
And God does not exist,
Of course that would mean the Devil,
And his minions are a myth.

For one can't exist without the other,
As most wise men would agree,
So for the moment let's imagine,
There's no Heaven, Hell or Purgatory.

And lets assume, for just a moment,
Darwin's theory, is correct,
And the survival of the fittest,
Is the best we can expect.

Does that then mean compassion,
No longer stands a chance?
For if it does, then tell me friends,
How far have we advanced?

Since crawling from primordial soup,
To populate the land,
Walking upright on hind legs,
And becoming modern man.

If it's only for the strongest,
That our future years await,
Then how do you explain the hero,
That gives his own life for his mate.

Or for some total stranger,
Too weak to stand a chance,
It's a shame that Darwin's theory,
Don't explain that circumstance,

A flaw in Darwin's theory?
It looks that way, I think,
For many times the strong,
Have saved the weaker from the brink.

So if we're not here by Gods creation,
And Darwin had it wrong,
There's some other explanation,
To explain where we came from.

Perhaps some distant planet,
In some far flung galaxy,
You're guess is as good as mine,
I can only speak for me.

But of all the possibilities,
This is how I feel,
I want God and Heaven,
And all his Angels to be real.
