The Bank Note
There was a small mid western town,
That was not doing well.
Seems everyone was deep in debt,
Just why I can not tell.
Into their midst there came a man.
A rich man passing through.
He was just a wealthy traveller,
That no one really knew.
Unto the local Realestate,
The rich man made his way.
He said, "There is a property,
I wish to see today."
An old hotel that used to be,
A really high class place,
but years of poor econemy,
Had closed it in disgrace.
The Realtor in grouchy mood,
Was slow to let him see.
The strangewr said, "I'll cover the cost,
If I should lose the key."
He put a hundred dollar bill,
Onto the counter top.
With trembling hand the Realtor,
Just let the old key drop.
The stranger said, "I will be back,
This afternoon at four."
Then picking up the key he turned,
And headed out the door.
The greedy Realtor took the bill,
And hurried down the street,
There was a local Prostitute,
That he just had to meet.
He paid her for her services,
Which left her feeling grand.
She hurried to her Dressmaker,
And put it in her hand.
From the Dressmaker to the Butcher,
The money made it's way.
For everybody had a debt,
That ther just had to pay.
Then the Butcher paid the Farmer,
For the last pig he'd bought.
The Farmer then paid the Realtor,
What he owed on his plot.
The Farmer just returned the bill.
To where it started from.
When back into the Realtor's shop,
The wealthy man did come.
He took his bill and dropped the key,
Back on the counter top,
And left the town much better off,
Because he made the stop.
No profit had been made that day,
But many debts were paid,
And everyone was happier,
For deals that they made.
