On a swing

I was thinking one night about childhood and my time on swings. This is the result

On a swing

Push, pump, go

Push, pump, go

All above the world,

all alone on a swing.

I soar so high,

above the crowd,

the noise, the land,

I fly just like a balloon.

I soar so high like a plane,

the shuttle, a rocket.

I soar just like a plane,

a big jet plane, above the rain,

to a land where things

aren't full of pain.

Push, pump, go,

Push, pump, go

and I'm so far away

a million miles away

from everyone

on the swing we fly
feeling freedoms high
no pain
soft rain
falling down on our skin
ah yes to be young again

I still can be found in the park all alone soaring free on the swing- it sadens me more now though knowing that when my feet are back on the ground I have to grow up and move along without being able to have my recess guaranteed... some kids lived for it

Ah, you really took me there, Steve. I still swing on the swing everytime I get the chance. It's a feeling that can't be matched. This poem captures it. Excellent piece!
