During my recovery, I spent much of my time alone as life continued on for those around me. At times the loneliness turned to anger expressed through my words. The torment which a lengthy recovery can take is difficult to explain to others.
I have so many things to do
Maybe this will give me a peace and happiness to view
Putting the finishing touches on my life
May pull back the inner strife
I would be lying
If I didn't admit to thoughts of dying
For me, I can see the beauty after completing this tour of duty
I reached out to my best friend
And what I took for compassion, understanding and love to me
was simply a ploy to move me along, you see
I kind of knew it that day
When he wanted me to be picked up rather than stay
No calls, talks or time granted to me
I am a piece of shit and nothing more than a twit
It is time for me to go
But I will try not to do it slow
Others prefer me to wait it out
With no concern for my inner shout
I am ready to be free from the pain
Giving into my belief in other things
No fault lay with a spouse
Who is quiet as a mouse
I often wonder why he picked me
As he opted for a best friend to keep
