As I stare in the mirror and I am startled with what I see.
It is someone I don’t recognize not me.
A troubled face looking back with sad eyes and tears
An expression of insecurity, no self-assurance and mostly fears
Once a happy face has turned weak and unsure.
Afraid of what life has in stored.
She hums a tune “Nobody knows the trouble I see.”
Or how she allowed herself to become a fiend.
Her heart beats a different tune one only of addiction.
Her mind tells her no more poison but she doesn’t listen.
Living her life with a monkey on her back.
And her arms, legs and thigh covered with needle tracks.
Looking in the mirror she says “Who are you?”
She begins to cry and finally ask God what to do.
God tells her to give her life to him.
You don’t need that poisonous venom.
She raises her head and looks to the sky.
Feeling the warmth of God is better than any high.
She raises her hand and ask God to wash away her sins
This is when the addiction ends and her new life begins.
