Reflection of life and the things we collect as memories.

Poem Artwork

If is a magic word

that travels with imagination,

draws on who we wished to be

thrives on inspiration.

As a child I played with sticks

they became people

planes

and many things,

I never saw them

as scraps of wood

life was like that

as a child.

A sunny day

with no school

was a delight that raised you high,

go for long walks

miles and miles

climbing trees

falling in ponds trying to catch a fish

oh such memories

their shadows dangle across my life

enticing me back

but I can only wish.

For as a child

there was pain

as well as holes in shoes

that let in the rain

just dismissed it all,

except the bits

that make me smile

kept me going

maybe forever will.

For there I nutured

my inner child

that me that I love

so long ago,

that returns every now and again

as shadows across my life

recalling the happy

within.

I have a friend who always joked how I was the kid who played with sticks for my toys as a kid growing up and snuck into the "rich" folks ponds to catch catfish. Didn't know I was living the high life in so many ways.

You reminded me that children do not need expensive toys to create fun if left to themselves alone or with others. Parents seem so concerned about "directing" their children's play these days, particularly through certain images and "success." Children have little opportunity to explore freely anymore.

Thoughts of my childhood as well.

My, my, John. You have captured my own (and many others I'm sure) childhood. What a wonderful, delightful time it was. I had my plastic Army men to help fight World War II.

The Ravyn: Riding the Cyclone by Jennifer Sloan by Erin Kelly-Moen

This book has been eight years in the making. It is mostly a jumble of thoughts written down in old spiral notebooks and hidden in the bottom drawer underneath various manuals for software packages and hardware long since turned obsolete.

Above All a Tradewoman by Chris Belec-Joanet-Joannette

The experience of a young adult trying to figure out what they want to do for employment or education can be overwhelming. My book will give them insight to what it means to be a carpenter. And the progress unions have made in discrimination. Ge
