The Emotions of Pet Loss.

"Secrets Of A Lost Soul"

Terrible nightmares
Dreams full of blood
Gun shot's in the air
screams sounding throughout the night
Crying, yelling & swearing
When will the terror subside
Where is the love
Where is the hope
Not once over these days has the silence been
as deadly as it is right now
Tomorrow the same will follow
Haunting memories
visions of the good times & nightmares of the bad times
Not once has there been a moment where freedom has surfaced

Wandering aimlessly
Darkness enveloping the light
surrounding the world in shadows
The creatures of the night
come out to play & torture
No one is safe from their enemies
The soul suffers
the heart weakens & the body stiffens
A gasp of terror
a need & an urgency to live
No more life
no more loving & no more hate
Just emptiness
Only a nightmare
A reminisce of them
So the person who you were once before
would only be a secret,
forgotten,  discarded & replace

Secrets of a lost soul
is none at all
Grieving families
Friends weeping over them & everyone else is unaware
The pain, the sympathy & lies
No one honest
No one true
The end will come
are you ready to meet your maker
To see heaven or hell
Death has come upon us
To see life passing by
To witness love ones go
Where is the world you use to know
But instead of love,
happiness & life
Its shadows, darkness & death
One shot
one heartbeat
& one chance to breath your last breath

No opportunity to live
Pain, tears & hate
An innocence shattered
A life taken
So young & free
But not still the silence beckons
& the darkness deceives
The ability to help
to just hold & pray
To survive one more day
When it's time
just close your eyes
Heart pounding
No more breaths
no more laughs
no more tears & no more you
Heaven or hell
Time is precious
Life is short
Don't expect more
Lost hopes & dreams
Insanity will arise & questions will surface

Secrets of a lost soul
Only an answer for the unknown
 Spoken to those who've experienced
wanting, needing & yearning
Darkness is all you seek
No more light
No more sight
No more thoughts
No more anything
Taken is all you receive
When times up its up
No more chances to love, show or change
Life's short
live it like you mean it
& don't take anyone or anything for granted
you'll eventually lose it

I have only been loved unconditionally by my Dog Malfy..He passed last year... I felt like I lost apart of myself!!!

Yes this is, "a stark and riveting piece." It seems to describe some apocalyptic and event where the best way out is death. But then, at the end, it refers to a a pet that lasted less than a year and makes one wonder if this patent was "loved to death" in some kind of abuse that the caretaker misunderstood.

I have a much more upbeat look at life and will not writing like this except on Halloween where I try to write darkly sometimes to go beyond the usual kiddie approach.

The subtext in this is intriguing, sarai sage. It's difficult being human. But there is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can circumvent, hinder, or control the firm resolve of a determined soul. For some mysterious reason I've never 'wandered aimlessly'. Since I was a child I have always been focused and driven. Unfortunately, though, even with the Light shining on us, we still cast shadows that can affect others in less than stellar ways. Your piece brought to mind a quote by Pliny the Elder: "The depth of darkness to which you can descend and still live, is an exact measure of the height which you can aspire to reach". A stark and riveting piece. Peace to you... r
