Sitting on the sidelines

I’m sitting on the sidelines, looking in

Wishing I could help.

Trying not to make matters worse,

With being in the middle of it all.

Where I once stood before,

On the battle field,

Listening to the sounds of war.

Retreating to my room, where I can be

Music in my ears.

Eye’s shut so I can not see.

For hours I would sit,

Tensions running high.

Slowly emerging,

Careful where you step.

One false move could set it off.

Now I’m on the outside looking in.

I can hear from a distance.

Where I had once been.

Wishing I could help,

Wishing I could make it easier.

Sitting on the sidelines, is now my fate

No longer in the firing lines
