Nobody has it made!
I was told by others that I had it made and I believed it.
I had arrived at the place I had dreamed of and hoped
to be.
In a certain way I had earned being there.
I had paid a price that many others were not willing
to pay to have success.

Since arriving at this place I have endeavored to do
those things experts recommended that I do to
maintain my lofty place.
But like many others who had achieved the American
Dream, who believed that they had it made, a single
event, in my case a devastating hurricane, for another
it was a dreadful disease, and for another it was the
lost of a dear friend, made it clear to me that I did not
have it made and neither did they. I and, perhaps, they,
had only been under an illusion that I had it made.
Nobody has it made!

Anybody can make the best of it!
Like anybody I was dealt a hand which is the only
hand I can live.
I did not choose my parents or where I would be
born. I did not ask to be born.
Much of what I have experienced and will experience
was predetermined  by the natural order of things or
by other people.
Often it has seemed that whatever I do is not enough,
certainly not to my liking or in my best interest.

Now that I have discovered that I have the power to
determine far more than I ever thought to be
possible I am so much happier and feel fulfilled.
Best of all I have discovered that I can make the best
of it - my life - at any and all times.

Making the best  of it is not a universal best. It is the
personal best. The personal best is what is best
for the individual, and in the situation specific.

This is my surefire formula for making the best
of it:(1) accept what is, (2) have a positive attitude, (3)
choose discerningly, (4) be hopeful, (5) realize that
it came to pass, not to stay, (6) know that life is
temporary, (7) live in the now, and (8) enjoy living
even when neither pleasure or happiness is on the
horizon.
Anybody can make the best of it!
