A wonderful tribute to your Father, I'm sure it wasn't easy watching his demise from sharper ind to hindered sources, and may this poem help others cope with Altheimer's in their families too. I've been with Altheimer's patients, and they have a mind of their own and carry on til the end without noticing what went wrong with them. So sad, an evil disease.
I worked at a nursing home on the Alzheimer's unit when I was a teenager. It's a heartbreaking disease. One woman had to be told everyday that her husband had passed on. (Because she would ask almost every day.) I hated to see her go through that agony each time. On good days, when she didn't ask, she would put on her lipstick and flirt with the men. Such a card! Those people will always have a place in my heart; they battle something that can't be controled, plus old age. A beautiful dedication to your father; I'm sure he looks down now with pride, Alzheimer's-free. My grandmother-in-law has Alzheimer's, and its crushing when they no longer recognize you. You can tell by their expression that they want to so bad! A lovely poem that pulls on my heartstrings:)
A very nice and effective form and great choice of vocabulary to express thoughts on creativity, writing and the changes that occur throughout one's life.

A brave piece of writing when it is in tribbute one as close as your Dad who you once knew and had to then see in such a helpless state .

This is a lovely tribute to your father.
Alzheimers is a tragic disease, for it is full time caretaking of a loved one. I hope one day there is found a cure for this disease that ravages whole families. How wonderful you were there to help.

After my mother passed
away, My father came
to live with me...
For eight years...
Until he passed away
so peacefully in his
sleep. "at home."
He suffered from the
same tragic disease..
It was so difficult
to watch him slip away...
