Your God is a Cruel Beast!

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Funny, how those words struck me,
As just about every doctrine/religion
I’d ever heard. Heard now. TV on.
Computer on. Dryer on. Seems all of
This rings a bell. *belled*

Next up..

Funny, how words can beat a person;
Into servility, regality, insanity.
I’ve heard it said, said and heard. TV
Talk runs on and on. Companionship
Seems to fail, texted to death. *texted*

And, later..

Funny, how all words are a connection,
Proffered, at times, and misunderstood.
I’m thinking I heard what was said, tv-ied
Between talk and dread. I’m not ready
To be obsolete, but I am. *i am*

With lastly..

Funny, how words of beasts and gods
Start with immorality, baseness and kin?
I’d thought I’d heard it all, but it repeats, again.
Thinking goes on, between here and how,
Something blasts past! Past is now. *past is Now*

I recently watched scenes from the Bible and realized that your title for this poem is correct.

Very profound and well thought about, Erin. I have to agree with, Ed; you're on to something.

Yep life is no bowl of cherries where everything is the same and always so sweet. We are people of choices be they good or bad. Yet we are only guaranteed the pursuit of happiness, the rest we have to forage for.

I think you're onto something, Erin. Good insight. The dumbing down of life?
