But sometimes my desperation is not so quiet.
My desire is too strong. My hope is all gone.
And the loneliness... The loneliness...
Save me, if you can.
Help me to live or help me to ...
Help me to find the sleep without dreams,
that world without desire, without hope, without torment.
No desire - no torment. No hope - no torment.

Mark Sebring (2013)

Princes and paupers have come and gone.
Their bones the dust we tread upon.
Each day I struggle to go on.
I'll join them in their rest anon.

The heart asks pleasure first,
And then, excuse from pain;
And then, those little anodynes
That deaden suffering,

And then, to go to sleep;
And then, if it should be
The will of its Inquisitor,
The liberty to die.

Emily Dickinson

Nobody

No one came to my rescue.
I called for help. I cried for help.
But no one came to my rescue.
I wept! I screamed! I pleaded!
But no one came. No one responded.
Could they not hear my voice?
Could they not understand my language?
Did I say what they could not hear?
Or did they simply not care?
Were they just not interested?
I was old, so they didn't care.
Not a celebrity, so they didn't care.
No one special, so they didn't care.
I was Nobody, and Nobody cared.

Mark Sebring (2021)

We live in an society where "ego" is a naughty word, where self-esteem is discouraged,
where we tell people they are Nobody and then wonder why so many consider suicide.

"It's not important. Okay? You're not important. Get used to it."
(No one appreciates the nobodies until after they are gone.)

"People become concerned about suicide prevention (Why didn't he talk to me?)
AFTER someone has committed suicide." --- Pudd'nhead Wilson's Calendar

"A hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore."
The hundred billion bottles represent cries for help that have been unheard.
"Another 40,000 coming every day." 💀

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
