Song of the Mockingbird

The Mockingbird's journey

 

He stumbled and bumbled, his eyes tightly closed.
He fell out of his shell, right onto his nose!
He wobbled and bobbled, then uncurled his toes,
He opened his beak and a cry quickly rose!
 
He wiggled and jiggled; it startled him so,
He just toppled over, right into the snow!
He jittered and twittered; he hopped and cajoled.
He cantered and skipped; he shimmied and rolled.
 
With a start and a twitch, he opened his eyes,
He unfurled his wings with a bit of surprise.
He flopped and he flapped and uttered some cries
Then he rumbled, then ran, then he took to the skies!
 
He faltered and dove; he twirled and he rose.
He swooped and he spiraled; he trounced in the troughs!
He zipped through the forest and over the boughs.
He circled a mountain; he raced through the groves!
 
He learned how to fly and he learned how to zing.
Then, this Mockingbird, he did a wonderful thing!
He opened his beak and he brought up his wing
And then... he began... to sing!
