DINAH BLOW YOUR HORN song lyrics
by Joel Sattler

Dinah Blow your horn
Dinah blow your horn
I’ve been working on the railroad
since the day I was born

Dinah blow your horn
Dinah blow your horn
I’ve been up every day
before the crack of dawn

In the dark it don’t matter
if you’re white or black
if you’re up in the night
before the morning cracks

just get on the road
got to work it jack
Because all guts are equal
and that’s a fact

Dinah Blow your horn
Dinah blow your horn
I’ve been working on the railroad
since the day I was born

Dinah blow your horn
Dinah blow your horn
I’ve been up every day
in the early morn

Hunger is a leveler
Fear is a God
mine is no better
than a lightning rod

death is a Democrat
And you ain’t rich
cupid is a brat
and life is a ——

Dinah Blow your horn
Dinah blow your horn
I’ve been working on the railroad
since the day I was born

Dinah blow your horn
Dinah blow your horn
you can’t sing the blues
till the sheep are shorn

There’s work to be done
and fields to plow
And complaining to the man
is not allowed

There’s 24 hours
every single day
there’s no time to sleep
the night away

get up you lazy bum
stop Making hay
do you want to live forever
Then you gotta pay

Hear the whistle blow
Hear the whistle blow
it’s time to get to work
yes it’s time to go

Lord I’m so tired
i’m in trouble deep
all I want in this life
is to go back to sleep

my reward for all this work
Is a chance to go upstairs
where I can go to sleep
till no one cares

Saint peter please call me
I am ready to go
Tear up my iou
to the company store

Dinah Blow your horn
Dinah blow your horn
I’ve been working on the railroad
since the day I was born

Dinah blow your horn
Dinah blow your horn
these blues aint mine
so they must be yorn

Now the tune is stuck in my mind.

I've been singing this ditty since I was a young man. I think it requires that explanation that you are either extending the verses are writing a whole new version that can be sung to the tune.
