Sometimes I miss you so much
it brings tears to my eyes
sometimes I miss your touch
I miss your sense of surprise
why can't I just let you go
and go my own way
sometimes I can't tell
the difference between today and yesterday
I could not protect you
from those you love the most
they are still too real to you
and I must be a ghost
I must be a ghost
in someone else's life
I must be a ghost
a shadow in the night
I must be a ghost
whether wrong or right
I must be a ghost
a trick of the moon light
I must be a ghost
in someone else's life
I must be a ghost
a shadow in the night
I must be a ghost
whether wrong or right
I must be a ghost
a trick of the moon light
I've been seeing them clearly in my mind's eye lately while waking up. Interesting how they creep in like your song suggests. And I do recall that movie that had a great theme song where Whoopi Goldberg was an unlikely conduit between the fear of losing and loss.
I believe that's what ghosts are: the fear of losing so much that the mind creates an entity to substitute for the loss. A ghost of what is real. Your song isn't sure what it is, asking the question, "Am I a ghost?"
