I WAS AN EAGLE lyrics by JOEL SATTLER I was an eagle late last night ready for war ready to fight ready for blood ready for love ready to do all the things that she does she took me into the innermost heart where anything can be blown apart where the sky falls into the sea ready for you ready for me I was an eagle late last night we didn't care if it's wrong or it's right we had to do what had to be done hit the highway and run run run we were on fire with love and desire we were in love down in the mud we were exploding above the clouds floating we were both eagles racing the moon I was an eagle late last night you were my partner you were my life we were the gods of the viking armageddon soaring above the limits of heaven I was an eagle late last night until the moment the morning was light and when finally the skies became bright you became me and I became might fly me come on and fly me I am the wings of the day so free so free so free so free so free where you are you and I I am me

Your choice of words here is so powerful. There is a cadence to the lines, and the idea of being an eagle is plenty unique. The motion and energy were right there in "we had to do what had to be done/hit the highway and run run run," and "we were exploding above the clouds floating". I really like "you became me and I became might". Captivating. ~~ djl

Lyrics filled with the passion that only love can produce. The flying theme is often used, but not in this way. And I do like the way it changes up at the end.
