There is so much to like in this writing. I agree with Ron about ‘anthem’ quality in these lines. Your verses ring with integrity. They resonate with respect. I read the last stanza as open-mindedness, acceptance of belief system, school of thought . . . in just those four lines. How powerful. The stanza that carries the herculean bundle for me is this one below: so profound — djl

I love the familiar words in these lyrics and phrases from great songs. But there is a sense of nostalgia, or expressing that the past was better than the future. If we really do believe in separation of church and state, then we should not include the stanza beginning, "In God we trust…"
