Th current "financial crisis" is a hard beast to get a hold of,

see !kings 18.16ff fr the Elijah reference.

greed and fear, fear and greed
we’ll have a bailout please
as the market goes rolling along

high words, empty words: liquidity, sub-prime,
margin, leverage,
free market
intoned to soothe the suckers
all the high, and empty words
boil down to two fear and greed

high words, empty words: melt down, bailout,
equity position. klaxon keened
to freeze rational thought
and give scope for fear and greed.

fear and greed, greed and fear
never, ever satisfied
as those markets go rolling along

high words, empty words:
recession, depression,
the end of the world as we know it.
‘Tis but the chant of the high Prophets of Mammon,
circling their altars emploring their Baal
 to light the fire and
to consume their tax deductible offering
while standing by Elijah mocks, and
sharpens his sword

 Reviews of "fear and greed"

Hello John,

These are words full of meaning, and impact. Lives have been lost because of the greed of many, and some are "still falling down."

"Those who love money never have money enough, and those who love wealth are never satisfied with their income."
(Ecclesiastes 5:10)

A Guide to Chinese Affairs by Robert Liu

This is a political treatise that deals with the China issue from a completely new perspective. Disparaging as he may sound, from page to page, toward "the old system" and the Communist Party's various wiles, the author demonstrates his mysteriously
