not sure if this is a capitulation or the narrator is about to "lay me down to bleed awhile/ and then to rise again."
my rambling days
my wind blown days
have come and gone
I am adrift on the edge
of forgetfulness, dozy
shuffling old grey beard
I hear the wind my ears
attend, my heart races
my steps do not follow
I am impotent unable to
follow the wind that
echoes through my heart
there s much to do the
battle is not done
these youngster don’t
even notice the fight
nor count its urgentcy
as I count it to the
cadence of my heart
herer I stand
my stammering tongue
unable to call a warning
and my palsied hands too
slow to raise the banner
I must trust
the battle to those
who can raise the banner
e’en though they
neither see the fight nor know
the urgency,
unfair the
passing breeze which
strands me here
irrelevant footnote to
history unfinished
cut off on the road
before the junction,
but what can I do
my rambling’ days
my windblown days
have been
and now are gone
