You ruled the air above the waters for eons.
Majestic in your flight
A guide for our mariners in distress.
That land and help were close.
A joy for our fishermen.
As your blossoms circled over our needs.
A light of great hope for our explorers.
For new land and wealth.
Forgotten for now.
Your fish deeply depleted.
Vermin of today.
Dining on ailing pigeons.
And our waste
A screaming mob you be.
Delighting only the cleaners.
Cleaners of clothes and cars.
What will they say?
A hundred or so years hence.
A decent place in history

An interesting piece on the seagull, the rat of the sea (?). Most dogs seem to love them and could chase them for hours. I love how they like to catch junk food in midair. I don't like it when they catch a fishing lure in midair.
