“Always do right!” kids used to be told.

Never should this admonition grow old.

In pursuing this character trait always be bold,

Never for so doing should any scold.

Many do not this practice heed,

Though common sense would surely plead.

It seems to not fit into a life of greed,

There seems, therefore, to be no need.

In modern society it seems outdated,

While some “old-timers” have a long time waited.

It is, in some circles, still debated,

Though most find it to obscurity relegated.

“Oh for the good old days”, many cry

When no one would ever question why.

People with character would rather die

Than let this quality of life slip by.
