 If

If I showed up at your door, would you let me in?

Would you hold me for your own, or run and not give-in

We’ve known each other years ago, shared secrets with love and care

We had misunderstandings, but love was always there

My true heart I did speak to you, sometimes a wee bit much

But nary once you ever left, forever remained in touch

That first day that I saw you, and told you what was said

You looked at me with wonder, what words are these instead?

Tearful eyes that were my own, I understood you well

For in life we need something, if even for a spell

We walk our paths and seek our needs, our learning that’s a must

yet ne'er have you lost my love, for this you know and trust

So my love if at your door, would you let me in?

Kidnap me forevermore, and keep me with a grin
