The soul is healed by being with children ~Fyodor Dostoyevsky~

Poem Artwork

When we are born
We have no idea of anything
Except that we love our little self
In our perfect or not so perfect body

Even if we cannot see or hear
The bond of a mothers cradling
Give us comfort and unconditional love
We sense the greater things around us

The world has yet to corrupt us
Everything is a new adventure
A new discovery
As we start to grow

When we are nurtured well
We understand unconditional love
Even if nature can be cruel towards us
No matter how many times we fell

And as we grow
We can ask questions
That even a wise soul
Has no answer for…

The beauty of a child
Is incomprehensible
They can be happy
They don’t yet see wrongs in life

We unnecessarily worry about their future
Will they be self-sufficient
Will they be happy or ill
When we need to know they are someone today

Teach your children well
Teach kindness, compassion
Teach charity, and patience
Because they are life’s miracle

And if you don’t believe in miracles
Look at the bundle wrapped before you
With their wandering eyes
And then remember... you are a miracle too

I love babies....who isn't happy when they are loved and cared for.....even in the smallest of ways

sometimes a child can only teach itself since no adult can truly identify with the child's state of mind ... especially if the child considers things adults usually can't ... though having a loving and inspired adults around can never be a detriment and is sometimes an amusement ... the told me i was a miracle baby and then my mother died 3 days later ... so there are exceptions ...

though i found your poem extremely insightful, touching and intelligent ...

You said it best when you said, "teacher children well." Unfortunately, many parents are bad teachers and bad examples. That's very hard to change.

Again, there is beauty, truth, and wisdom expressed through your verses, Carolee. Would that all could stay "as a child." Perhaps this world would know peace then. Thank you for sharing. Love and best wishes to you,

We know no evil, hate, jealousy, etc., when we are small. We learn that what we must hold on to is "hope" and love and that is all that matters.

Love ya!
