As the last remnants of me decompose into the graveyard of my will

Likely that the potential of one of my destinies will forever be unfulfilled

I have an inexplicable sense of failure, for the loss of this unknown path

Even more unsettling is the sense of relief.

The path that I now follow is brightly lit and seemingly easy

But alas, I know, it will be the hardest of all

The signal rest and the ineluctable dissolve into spirit only--leaving behind the affectable matter that records worthless physical pain. A beautiful, undeniable rest--perhaps a sensational negative, but not the negative in itself. A new beginning as the soul picks up and moves on. Grapple onto your freedom when it comes, and share a parting smile.

I find your words particularly thought-inciting, David. I appreciate the philosophy that you have shared via your verses here. Love and peace to you,

Great truth in Decomposing, David...the flesh has to rot away before we can find our soul. This poem reminds me of the Hermit tarot card. To withdraw from the company of men and live a life of seclusion and hardship is necessary to find your new skin. It only comes with quiet and solitude. With lantern in hand, seek and ye shall find, David...Light to you...Blessed Be.

Sage

It is such a surrender isn't it?
In some sense anyway...
giving up parts of ourself
so the core part of ourself we smothered
can emerge...and grow & experience life...
temptations are hard to resist...unless
it burned us deeply...I like easier...
but as you say..."it will be the hardest of all"

David,
Sometimes those unknown paths were never meant to travel..Don't regret anything, you are doing exactly what you are destined to be doing..If that path comes into vision again at a later time, then, that is the time to pursue it...Breathe and know you are where you are suppose to be at this very moment in time...

Your poem speaks to me, and we all feel this way at some point in our life.

Much peace, love and light,
Amber

Failure and relief - how cleverly you align the notions, but the poem is more than clever, it goes well beyond clever and has a resonance I can easily identify with; it speaks to me.
I like this so much, David.

It may be a difficult path...but in the end, the one that means most. Wise and honest.
